The United States’ special envoy for Syria has urged an immediate halt to fighting between the Syrian Arab Army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, warning that renewed clashes risk undermining fragile stability and reversing recent political progress.

The envoy said that confrontations in Aleppo and surrounding areas are deeply alarming and could derail efforts aimed at unifying the country and restoring state authority. He stressed that continued violence would complicate plans to integrate Kurdish forces into national institutions under previously agreed political arrangements.

During meetings with senior Syrian officials, the envoy reaffirmed support for a political framework that seeks to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity while safeguarding the rights of Kurdish communities. He called on all sides to show restraint, return to dialogue, and avoid actions that could inflame tensions or endanger civilians.

The U.S. official also held consultations with regional partners, underlining the importance of coordinated international efforts to de-escalate the situation, facilitate the withdrawal of armed groups from flashpoint areas, and advance a comprehensive political settlement.

He emphasized that Washington remains ready to support mediation initiatives and confidence-building measures that would help stabilize northern Syria, prevent further bloodshed, and keep the door open for an inclusive political process.
