U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Wocoff has launched a new round of diplomatic talks, meeting with Arab foreign ministers to extend the fragile ceasefire in Gaza amid ongoing efforts to broker a long-term solution.

According to Israeli media, the latest U.S. proposal calls for Hamas to release 10 hostages alive, including Israeli-American citizen Aidan Alexander. In exchange, Hamas would receive a 60-day extension of the ceasefire. The group has stated that it is engaging “responsibly and positively” in the negotiations, including discussions with the U.S. envoy for detainee affairs.

Meanwhile, an Israeli delegation has reportedly arrived in Doha to take part in negotiations on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange. However, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, accusing it of failing to prioritize the return of hostages. Lapid argued that the government is reluctant to pay a political price for ending the war and claimed Israel has already offered Hamas a “free” prisoner swap as part of the deal’s second phase.

As diplomatic efforts intensify, uncertainty looms over Gaza, where residents fear a resumption of Israeli attacks that have already killed tens of thousands of civilians.
