On Monday, US Ambassador to Egypt Jonathan Cohen revealed that he has decided to establish a new council sponsored by the US Embassy in Cairo for youth as an advisory body in charge of encouraging and enabling youths to play an active and creative role in building their nation.
In his address at the launching of the annual forum, US Ambassador to Egypt Jonathan Cohen revealed that he was very excited while attending the previous edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF) in 2019 as he met with many inspirational youths. Cohen said: “I am pleased that we can be back together this year."
The American ambassador also took this occasion to express words of praise and admiration for Egypt's excellent leadership and initiative in organizing this timely and significant event.
He also thanked H.E. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for inviting him to participate in this massive event.
Moreover, he highlighted the work the US and Egypt have done together to combat the awful COVID-19, saying this has been part of a “very broad and deep strategic partnership” between the two countries.
"The US administration has contributed over $15 million to helping Egypt combat COVID-19 through assistance and relief," Cohen noted.
In the same connection, he explained: "US has also provided nearly 16 million doses of Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine to Egypt in partnership with COVAX over these past two years."
Moreover, the American high-ranking official revealed: "I have decided to establish a new council sponsored by the US Embassy in Cairo for youth as a body in charge of enabling young people to play an active and creative role in building their nation."
Lastly, he mentioned that the U.S embassy maintained a number of continuing education programs throughout the country.
