The United States Embassy in Riyadh said on Wednesday that its ability to provide emergency services to American citizens in Saudi Arabia has become limited due to heightened security risks.

In a statement, the embassy noted that ongoing security concerns have constrained its capacity to deliver full consular assistance, urging U.S. nationals in the Kingdom to exercise caution and closely monitor official updates.

The announcement came shortly after the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Eastern Province.

According to the ministry, the unmanned aerial vehicle was detected and neutralized before it could reach its intended target. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.

The Eastern Province, home to key energy infrastructure, has previously been targeted in regional tensions. Saudi authorities have not yet provided details about the origin of the drone or whether the incident is linked to broader regional developments.

The twin announcements underscore mounting security concerns in the region amid escalating hostilities, prompting diplomatic missions to reassess operational measures and contingency plans.
