Heightened Safety Measures

The Embassy’s latest communication emphasizes that the safety of U.S. citizens is its highest priority. mission personnel have already been instructed to shelter in place, and the Embassy strongly recommends that private U.S. citizens do the same. This includes staying within residences, hotels, or other hardened structures and staying away from windows.

Departure Options and Emergency Preparedness

While Queen Alia International Airport remains open and commercial flights are still departing, the Embassy is urging citizens to monitor their options closely. For those choosing to remain, the alert advises maintaining a supply of essential items, including:

The U.S. government is also offering assistance to those wishing to leave the region, directing citizens to complete a crisis intake form via the State Department’s website.
