US Embassy in Haiti's Capital, Port-au-Prince, shut its doors on Tuesday, following “rapid gunfire” nearby the embassy.
Previously, the U.S. Department of State called American citizens in Haiti to consider leaving the country, especially after reports of violence against foreign people.
The US embassy is still recommending all American nationals to leave the country. In addition, it called them to be more careful, avoid large gatherings, and abandon the insecure regions in Port-au-Prince.
Moreover, Haiti is struggling with various issues, mainly violence, and lack of food and water.
UN World Food Program revealed that almost 5 million Haitians are in need of food.
