The U.S. Embassy in Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties at the "SelectUSA Seminar" in Alexandria, where Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Evyenia Sidereas encouraged Egyptian businesses to explore investment opportunities in the United States.
In her opening remarks, Sidereas underscored the strong economic partnership between the United States and Egypt, emphasizing the importance of trade and investment in fostering mutual prosperity. She thanked the Alexandria Business Association (ABA) and its Chairman, Mohamed Hanno, for hosting the event, noting that the U.S. Embassy continues to collaborate closely with Egyptian business organizations to facilitate investment opportunities.
“The United States is open for business, and we invite Egyptian companies to come to the U.S., build manufacturing facilities, set up warehouses, or establish offices,” said Sidereas. “With a market of 340 million consumers, a highly skilled workforce, and financial incentives, the U.S. offers an ideal environment for businesses looking to grow and expand.”
The "SelectUSA program", led by the U.S. Department of Commerce, plays a pivotal role in attracting foreign direct investment. Since its inception, it has facilitated over $250 billion in investments, creating and retaining more than 230,000 jobs in the U.S. economy.
During the seminar, representatives from Illinois and New Hampshire discussed investment prospects in their respective states, offering Egyptian businesses firsthand insights into expanding operations in the U.S.
The seminar also provided attendees with practical knowledge on navigating the U.S. investment landscape, covering legal, tax, and financial considerations. Egyptian companies that have successfully entered the U.S. market shared their experiences, highlighting both opportunities and challenges.
Sidereas announced that U.S. Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg will lead a delegation of Egyptian companies to the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., from May 11-14, 2025. The high-profile event will connect investors with U.S. state representatives, business leaders, and industry experts to explore potential investment opportunities.
“You will hear from U.S. Cabinet Secretaries, state governors, and top industry leaders about how the U.S. can support your company’s growth,” Sidereas said. “Our goal is for you to leave with a clear roadmap to success in the U.S. market.”
The event reaffirmed the U.S. government’s commitment to assisting Egyptian companies throughout the investment process. “Your U.S. investment journey begins today, and we are ready to join you,” Sidereas concluded, encouraging attendees to take advantage of the resources and opportunities available through SelectUSA.
With growing interest in U.S.-Egypt trade relations, the seminar marked another step toward fostering greater investment collaboration between the two nations.
