U.S. Embassy Cairo & AUC Celebrate Graduation of 1st American Studies Certificate Cohort

Acting U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Jessica Dancel attended the celebrated the first graduation of the American Studies Certificate Program, a partnership between the U.S. Embassy and The American University in Cairo's (AUC) Prince Alwaleed Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR). 

Joined by Prince Alwaleed Center Director Professor Mark Dietz, Dancel congratulated 20 outstanding Egyptian graduates who completed an intensive six-month program focused on U.S. history, culture, politics, economics, and science.

"This program is an example of the vibrant U.S.-Egypt partnership which drives innovation and economic opportunity in both our countries," said Dancel. 

"By providing talented young Egyptians with a deeper understanding of American society, we are fostering closer ties and creating collaboration that will benefit both the United States and Egypt for generations to come."

Launched in January 2026, the American Studies non-degree certificate program gives outstanding recent Egyptian graduates the opportunity to explore U.S. society through lectures, seminars, and case studies. 

The program reflects the enduring partnership between the United States and Egypt by preparing the next generation of leaders for careers in international affairs, business, academia, public service, and other fields. 

Building on the success of the inaugural cohort, a second cohort began in July 2026.
