US Embassy, AUC Celebrate Carter's 100th Birth Anniversary

On Monday, the US Embassy in Cairo, and the American University in Cairo (AUC) teamed up to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of former US President Jimmy Carter who is known for his wide efforts and contributions in the scene of politics, peace, development, and human rights. 

The celebration included a photo exhibition for the former US president's various life events, phases, achievements, and moments.

One of the highlighted photos were those related to his visit to Egypt with the late former Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar El Sadat.

The exhibition also displayed photos of Carter's childhood, presidency, military, and with his family.

Moreover, a documentary film on Carter's achievements and life was screened after the exhibition. 

Several US Embassy in Cairo officials attended the event, led by US Deputy Chief of Mission Evyenia Sidereas and Minister Councelor for Public Affairs US Embassy in Cairo Ruben Harutunian. 

Harutunian told reporters during the event: "The United States Embassy in Egypt is really honored to be able to partner with the American University of Cairo to put together this exhibition which celebrates the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter."

He praised the ties between the US and Egypt, in addition to paying a homage to the role of Carter and Sadat in peace in the Middle East. He described: "It is an opportunity for us to once again remember the strong bonds between the United States and Egypt, which goes back even further, but also highlighted by the bond that existed between Jimmy Carter and President Sadat.

They work towards peace today, the United States and Egypt are partners in working towards a stable, secure region. This also is an opportunity to showcase Jimmy Carter as a person, fruitful life of 100 years of impactful commitment to humanitarianism to supporting those less fortunate to commitment to justice and human rights.

He continued: "Egyptians and Americans can learn a lot from because he showed that even after he was president he continued and was committed to those values and those actions to make the world a better place, which again is a reminder of what the United States and Egypt can do together in partnership and in solidarity."
