The Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL), Ahmed Aboul Gheit, congratulated on Monday the US President-elect Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris after their victory in the US presidential elections.
In an official statement, Aboul Gheit expressed his appreciations towards the vital and multifaceted ties between AL and the US.
"Arab League looks forward to working with the next US administration in order to boost the common interest of both sides in the region, and advance the agenda for peace, stability, and prosperity," the statement read.
It is worth mentioning, after a lengthy count, Biden’s victory was finally announced yesterday – with joyous scenes breaking out across the US.
He has defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States. He won Pennsylvania on Saturday to exceed the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.
Biden has pledged to be a “President for all Americans”, while running mate Kamala Harris said it was a race “for the soul of America”.
