US Diplomat, UN Envoy Discuss Myanmar Crisis

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met Christine Schraner Burgener, the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy on Myanmar in Washington DC.

In a statement, U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said that both sides discussed the international community efforts to help stop the repression and violence by Myanmar's military leaders.

Moreover, they also discussed the ASEAN's call to hold Myanmar's military leaders accountable, as well as supporting Myanmar people in their march towards democracy and efforts to provide necessary humanitarian aid to the affected population in that country and encouraging countries in the region to participate in providing safe haven for refugees and asylum seekers from Myanmar.
