U.S. Diplomat: Egypt Emerging as Key Partner in AI and Digital Economy

U.S.-Egypt cooperation in technology and artificial intelligence has become one of the key pillars of the strategic partnership between the two countries, Eric Gaudiosi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, said Tuesday, emphasizing that the partnership is creating new opportunities for investment and innovation as Egypt seeks to position itself as a regional hub for the digital economy.

Speaking on the sidelines of the U.S. Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Forum in Cairo, Gaudiosi said the United States views Egypt as a natural partner, with cooperation extending beyond government ties to include collaboration between the private sectors of both countries.

He said U.S. companies bring advanced technological expertise, while Egypt offers a promising market and a strategic partner capable of becoming one of the first countries in the region to lead the digital transformation.

Gaudiosi described technology and AI cooperation as a vital component of the broader U.S.-Egypt relationship, which he characterized as deep, dynamic and wide-ranging.

"Technology represents a new frontier in our partnership," he said. "We see a natural complementarity between Egypt and the United States—not only between our governments, but also between our private sectors."

He added that the strength and technical excellence of the U.S. private sector align well with Egypt's growing potential, describing the country as "a natural partner, a promising market, and potentially a regional leader in this field."

Gaudiosi said the United States is committed to investing early and consistently in cooperation with Egypt to help drive innovation and support future generations.

He also highlighted Egypt's strategic geographic location, describing it as a gateway linking Africa, Europe and Asia, a position that creates significant opportunities for trade, investment and logistics services.
