U.S. Central Command announced that American B-52 bombers have arrived in its operational area in the Middle East.
In a previous statement, the Pentagon disclosed that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the deployment of additional ballistic missile defense destroyers, fighter squadrons, and several long-range bombers to the region.
The statement read, "Austin ordered the deployment of multiple B-52 Stratofortress bombers, a squadron of fighter jets, refueling aircraft, and naval destroyers to the Middle East."
It added, "These reinforcements will arrive in the region over the coming months."
The military movements come amid ongoing conflicts involving Israel and Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as missile exchanges with Iran.
