US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin considered that Russia's recent test of an anti-satellite system "represents a threat to the international community.”

Austin said, during a press conference held on Wednesday evening, that the United States  OF America (USA) continues to follow the "disturbing behaviors" of Russia such as "mobilizing forces" on the border with Ukraine and testing anti-satellite weapons.

The US Secretary of Defense added that the Russian test of anti-satellite weapons represented a "threat to the international community," adding: "This undermines international stability."

He saw that Russia had an understanding of the circle of debris that would form after such an operation, and said: "We wonder why they did that."

"We are certainly concerned about the militarization of the space sphere, and we would like to call on Russia and all other countries to act responsibly in this regard," he added.

On Monday, the US State Department accused Russia of carrying out an anti-satellite missile test in space, claiming that this constitutes a threat to the interests of all countries of the world.

Later, US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said that his country would discuss with her allies ways to respond to Russia's test of anti-satellite weapons in space.

On Tuesday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed that Russia had conducted a successful test of an anti-satellite system, explaining that the operation was carried out by targeting an old satellite with high skill.

The Russian Ministry of Defense showed a videotape proving the presence of the International Space Station below the remains of the satellite "Zelina-D" at a distance of 40-60 km, stressing that the station was not exposed to any threat.
