US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Sunday praised Pakistan's role in de-escalating tensions and promoting regional diplomacy amidst current conflicts, including the war in Iran, during his participation in the ongoing Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
The US Defense Secretary, as reported by Radio Pakistan's English service, expressed particular appreciation for Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for their pivotal roles in peace efforts.
Hegseth noted that an unexpected development in relations and a growing friendship is shaping up between the United States and Pakistan, which he described as "highly crucial."
