The United States of America ( USA) expressed anxiety at the Chinese military activities near Taiwan.   Washington considers these activities as an attempt to scare the island which China depicts as an inseparable part of its territories despite an independent government there.

Ned Price, a spokesman for the US Department of State, said over a news conference, that the US’s commitment to defend and protect Taiwan is still formidable.

He added that the law regulates relations with Taiwan gives the USA sound rights to keep capabilities to deter any party that threatens Taiwan by using force or coercive means to deteriorate Taiwan’s security or its economic system.

It is worth noting that the statements of the spokesman of the US Department of State come on the backdrop of military drills carried out by the Chinese forces.

The USA  has sent the destroyer John McCain to the area where the Chinese carrying out their maneuvers.

On the other hand, the Chinese army condemned the appearance of the US warship in the area of the drills and described it as a destabilizing factor.

Last Monday,  Qau Shio Cheng, the spokesman for the Chinese Navy, said that the drill near Taiwan is a part of annual exercises as it went in the past.

He indicated that the Chinese craft carries Liao Ning and a destroyer of 055- made take part in the drills.

Cheng added that the drill aim at strengthening the national abilities to protect the sovereignty, safety, and development interests of China.

However, the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense, announced on February 20th  that the air force went to alert for the second day in a row after 12 Chinese fighter and bomber jets carried out a drill in the vicinity of an archipelago in the South China Sea run by Taiwan.

Over the last months, squadrons of Chinese bombers and fighters carried out frequent stories in the southwestern corner of an area under the umbrella of the Taiwanese air defense.
