US Consulate in Iraq's Erbil Hit by Missiles

A number of missiles were fired at the US Consulate in Erbil, northwest of Iraq, on Saturday night, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

At least five 'Iranian-produced ballistic missiles' hit the city in the early hours of Sunday, The governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw confirmed.

Iraqi security officials said that as many as 12 missiles were fired toward the U.S. consulate. A U.S official said missiles had been launched from neighboring Iran.

The governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw said several rockets landed in the area, saying it was not clear if the target was the US consulate or the airport in the city. According to the agency, five explosions were heard in the attack.

The Kurdistan Minister of Health stated that there were no reports of injuries or deaths in the attack.

A US also official told Reuters that there were no deaths or injuries in the attack.
