US Congress Indicates Possibility of "Expulsion" of Russia from UN

US Congress Research Service has prepared a report for Congressmen and Senators on the possible response of the United Nations (UN) to the Russian operation in Ukraine.

The report revealed that some countries may challenge Russia's membership in the international organization.

In the document seen by RT, the Congressional Research Service says Russia's alleged obstruction of the UN Security Council "has given new impetus to the arguments that the veto does not align well with the principles of the organization."

The report added that there may appear proposals to reconsider the role of permanent members of the UN Security Council, as well as to challenge Russia's membership in the organization.

"An increasing number of member states reject Russia's participation in Security Council meetings and voting on (issues related to) the Ukrainian crisis, as well as its continued participation and membership in the United Nations," the document said.
