The US Congress approved Saturday a temporary bill that prevents the government shutdown.
The temporary government financing project extends for 45 days, and does not include aid to Ukraine.
The temporary funding bill for US government agencies was passed in preparation for a vote in the Senate after the House voted 335 in favor of the resolution to 91 against it.
Now the Senate must approve this initiative. In this case, it will go to US President Joe Biden, who needs to sign the document before 00:00 on Sunday, October 1, to avoid a federal government shutdown.
Earlier today, US Congressman Tom Cole announced that the Republican Party had submitted a bill to temporarily extend government funding for a period of 45 days, excluding aid provided to Ukraine.
On his part, President Biden described the attempt by some members of the Congress to shut down the government as unacceptable.
The White House press service had previously launched the countdown to the possible closure of the US federal government, through the official White House account on the “X” platform.
It is noteworthy that government funding ends with the beginning of the federal fiscal year on October 1, and the shutdown will actually begin at 12:01 a.m. if Congress is unable to pass a funding plan signed by the president into law.
