US Comments on Le Pen's Remraks about Possible Rapprochement Btw Russia, NATO

The US State Department commented on French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen's remarks about a possible strategic rapprochement between Russia and NATO.

"Those comments were made in the context of a presidential campaign. That’s a decision the French people will need to make," US Departmet of State Spokesman Ned Price said.

Earlier, Le Pen announced that if she’s elected, she will push for a strategy of rapprochement between NATO and Russia, once the war is over.

The first round of the presidential elections in France concluded on Sunday. The current President Emmanuel Macron and his far-right rival Marine Le Pen moved to the second round, which will take place on April 24.

According to media reports, Macron won the first round with 28.5% of the vote ahead of Marine Le Pen with 24.2%
