A US newspaper revealed that the US administration doesn’t rule out that fighters of the Taliban will take over Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan within three months.

The Washington Post quoted US well-informed military sources as saying that that the US Army predicts the scenario of taking over the Afghani capital during the months to come. But other sources indicated that fighters of the movement may sweep Kabul within a month.

According to the newspaper, the situation in the south part of Afghanistan has deteriorated significantly since June this year.

Experts expected then that the Afghani capital may fall within six months.

However, Jane Psaki, a spokeswoman of the White House, said on Tuesday, that US President Joe Biden considered that the Taliban’s takeover of the capital is not an inevitable matter.

Biden calls forces loyal to the government, led by President Ashraf Ghani, to withstand and fight against the Taliban and he promised to support the Afghani forces.

He indicated that he does not regret the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan despite the fierce attacks launched by the Taliban insurgents over the last few weeks.

It is worth noting that Afghanistan is witnessing bloody confrontations between the Taliban and forces of the government.

On the other hand, the Taliban announced the takeover of wide areas across the country alongside expelling the government forces of borderland crossing with the neighboring countries such as Iran, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.

The rate of clashes between the Taliban and the Afghani security forces has risen since May when the US and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) started withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Withdrawal of the foreign forces of the country is expected to complete by September 11.
