The US State Department has approved a potential $1.98 billion arms sale to Kuwait that includes advanced counter-drone systems and related defense equipment.
The proposed package features Roadrunner and Anvil kinetic counter-UAV interceptors, long-range surveillance and fire-control towers, maritime monitoring systems, electromagnetic pulse warfare capabilities, tactical operations centers, software development, personnel training, and logistical support.
According to the State Department, the sale would strengthen Kuwait's ability to detect and neutralize current and future drone threats while supporting US foreign policy and national security objectives in the Middle East.
The US described Kuwait as a key non-NATO ally that contributes to regional stability and economic progress. Officials added that the equipment can be integrated into Kuwait's military forces without difficulty.
