The United States Department of State has approved military sales worth more than $8.6 billion to key Middle East allies, including Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
The move comes nine weeks after the outbreak of conflict involving the US and Israel against Iran, and more than three weeks after a fragile ceasefire took effect.
Earlier, Washington approved potential defense deals with the United Arab Emirates worth over $7.8 billion, including advanced air defense systems and air-to-air missiles.
One of the largest proposed deals involves the sale of an integrated long-range radar system designed for high-altitude defense, valued at up to $4.5 billion.
The approvals highlight Washington’s continued efforts to strengthen regional security partnerships and enhance the military capabilities of its allies amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
