The US government has approved an additional $3 billion arms deal for Israel, using an emergency provision to bypass the traditional congressional review process.

The State Department confirmed the approval on Friday, with deliveries set to begin next year and continue through 2028.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio invoked a national security clause to fast-track the deal, a measure previously used by the Biden administration.

The decision underscores Washington’s continued support for Israel, its closest ally in the region and primary defense partner.

The package includes a range of military equipment and munitions, with the bulk of the deal—valued at $2.04 billion—dedicated to heavy aerial bombs.

The order consists of approximately 35,500 high-explosive bombs, along with additional munitions, technical support, and other military equipment worth $675 million. The deal also includes nearly $295 million for armored bulldozers.

While the US remains Israel’s key weapons supplier, the ongoing conflict in Gaza has intensified calls for greater transparency regarding American arms exports and their compliance with international humanitarian laws.

Critics continue to push for increased oversight of military aid to ensure accountability in its use.
