The joint US-Canadian force announced that aircraft from a joint US-Canadian military command are expected to arrive in Greenland soon to participate in pre-planned activities in the self-governing Danish territory.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), which plays a strategic role in detecting air intrusions, explained on its official website that these military aircraft will support pre-planned activities.
The statement read: “NORAD aircraft will soon arrive at Petovik Air Base in Greenland. These aircraft, along with aircraft operating from bases in the United States and Canada, will support several long-planned NORAD activities.”
This deployment comes amid threats from Donald Trump to assert control over the vast territory, as reported by France Info radio. When contacted by the media, NORAD did not immediately provide details on the number of aircraft involved or the nature of the planned missions.
