Today, Sunday, US Ambassador to Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg celebrated Egypt’s top high school graduates, based on 2024 Thanawaya Amma exam results. Hosted at the Ambassador residence in Cairo, the event allowed these high-achieving students and their parents to meet with US business leaders, university presidents, and US Embassy Cairo officials to explore employment and future educational exchange opportunities.
Garg welcomed the students, congratulated them in Arabic, and English. She also hailed the role of her father and mother who supported her in her education to be an ambassador.
During the reception, Ambassador Mustafa Garg said: “I am proud of your accomplishments and am confident in your limitless potential. You are Egypt’s future. Let’s continue to learn from each other. Let’s find new solutions and innovate together. And, let’s continue the strong U.S.-Egypt partnership long into the future, because the U.S.-Egypt partnership means shared success for us all.”
She also had several chats with the students, and their families who were welcomed warmly, and joyfully.
On their side, several students expressed to SEE News that they were invited by the embassy to several orientation sessions that briefed to them the opportunities the US can provide them such as cultural exchange programs.
They also asserted that they were warmly received and welcomed by the US Embassy in Cairo officials.
The event marked the conclusion of the U.S. Embassy’s inaugural two-day leadership camp for top achieving Thanawaya Amma students. The program included interactive sessions on leadership, teamwork, respect for different perspectives, communication styles, and storytelling.
The students were also invited to the U.S. Embassy to learn about educational exchange opportunities, English language programs, and free English language resources from the American Center in Cairo. The leadership camp and celebration at Ambassador Mustafa Garg’s residence demonstrate the strong people-to-people ties between the United States and Egypt built through decades of cultural and academic exchange.
Since 1946, nearly 27,000 Egyptian and American alumni have engaged in these invaluable exchange experiences. The U.S.-Egypt partnership means educational and professional exchanges that contribute to a more successful future for the people of both nations.
By the end of the celebration, the ambassador gifted the students with gifts for their achievement.
