Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili arrived in Cairo on Saturday, embarking on his first visit outside Europe since the coronavirus outbreak and resumption of flights in Spain.
Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anany received Pololikashvili and his accompanying delegation, who headed for the Red Sea resort of Hurghada to inspect the precautionary measures and safety regulations adopted in the hotels and museums in addition to Hurghada International Airport.

Anany and Pololikashvili will hold talks and meetings with investors in the tourism sector as well as visiting museums and archaeological sites and tourist destinations in Egypt, the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry said in a statement.
The tourism minister hailed the UNWTO efforts in relieving the coronavirus ramifications on the tourism sector and its initiatives, particularly the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative.
Meanwhile, UNWTO chief invited Anany to attend the 112th session of the Executive Council of the organization, set to be held in Georgia mid-September.
