The United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) has warned of food shortages in Yemen, pointing out that hunger threatens 19 million Yemenis.
The UN program noted that food aid has contributed to averting famine, but dwindling funding threatens to push millions of families to the edge of the abyss, calling on the world to act now.

Yemen is the largest operation in the world that aims to provide food to some 13 million neediest people.
The WFP officials warn that the rate of hunger in Yemen is currently unprecedented and causes severe suffering to millions of people, despite continued humanitarian assistance, 17.4 million Yemenis are food insecure.
The UN program expects that the number of food-insecure people will rise to about 19 million by the end of the year.
