The President of the UN Security Council (UNSC) has announced that an emergency meeting will take place on Sunday following Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 2000 GMT on Sunday, at the request of Israel. A spokesperson for Malta, which holds the rotating presidency this month, confirmed the news on Saturday evening.

Israel's envoy to the UN sent a letter to the Security Council President, condemning Iran for its air assault and calling it a "flagrant violation of Israel's sovereignty." The letter also stated that Iran launched a direct attack from within its territory, using over 200 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan urged that the UNSC Iran for these serious violations and designate its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. He also highlighted that Iran-backed groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen have carried out a series of attacks on Israeli and Western targets since October 7, when Hamas, backed by Iran, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel.
