United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is set to hold a session on Monday to discuss the situation in Palestine, during which members will receive a briefing from the Chief Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator in Gaza, according to the Palestinian News Agency.
In December of last year, the Security Council adopted a resolution calling for urgent steps to allow the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and to create conditions for a ceasefire.
Jorge Moreira da Silva, Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), will also provide an informational briefing on this matter.
It is worth mentioning that UNOPS was tasked with activating and managing the mechanism stipulated in Resolution 2720.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression on Gaza by land, sea, and air since October 7, 2023. This assault has resulted in the deaths of 41,206 civilians, the majority of whom are women and children, and the injury of 95,337 others.
Thousands of victims remain trapped under the rubble, and rescue teams are unable to reach them.
