The Cairo Ministerial Conference focused on Enhancing Humanitarian Response in Gaza took place today, December 2, 2024.
This event was organized under the leadership of President El-Sisi and featured the participation of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, alongside Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. A total of 103 delegations from various states, international organizations, and financial institutions were in attendance.
This conference is part of Egypt's ongoing initiatives to bolster the humanitarian response in Gaza and to address the severe humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
The primary objectives of the conference include securing definitive commitments for aid to Gaza, enhancing international support to ensure a sustainable response to the humanitarian crisis, mobilizing efforts to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance to the residents of Gaza, and strategizing for early recovery within the region.
On behalf of the Secretary-General, DSG Amina J. Mohammed said: "From day one, Egypt has been a leading voice in seeking a peaceful resolution to this conflict."
"Egypt is also a critical humanitarian hub, supporting the delivery of desperately needed relief to Gaza at this incredibly difficult moment," she added.
She also urged the international community to back these efforts and build a foundation for sustainable peace in Gaza and across the Middle East.
