The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a stark warning that Israel is seeking to forcibly displace Palestinians from the northern parts of Gaza to the south, in what could lead to mass forced displacement, according to the agency’s spokesperson, Adnan Abu Hasna.
Speaking in an interview with Cairo News Channel, Abu Hasna described this as a dangerous development, especially when coupled with Israel’s ongoing military escalation and deliberate starvation tactics affecting civilians in Gaza.
“This policy of pushing Palestinians southward, combined with the continued bombardment and systematic starvation, signals a very serious situation,” he stated.
6,000 Aid Trucks Blocked by Israel
Abu Hasna stressed that if Israel is serious about combating famine and saving lives, it must immediately stop blocking humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.
“UNRWA alone has 6,000 trucks loaded with food, tents, and blankets ready to enter Gaza, in addition to thousands more from other UN organizations,” he explained. “But they all require Israeli permission to cross.”
The blockade has significantly worsened the humanitarian crisis, with UN agencies warning that thousands of Palestinians face starvation and a collapse in access to basic services.
UNRWA, alongside other international bodies, has repeatedly urged Israel to open safe corridors and allow the delivery of aid without delay. Human rights groups have also condemned what they describe as a collective punishment strategy, violating international humanitarian law.
