The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that 33,000 Palestinian refugees have been forcibly displaced in the northern West Bank, underscoring the worsening humanitarian situation across the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement, UNRWA warned that large-scale displacement continues to place severe pressure on humanitarian services, as displaced families struggle to access shelter, healthcare, and basic necessities amid ongoing instability.
The warning comes as Palestinian civil society leaders renew calls for urgent action to address the deepening humanitarian crisis, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
Amjad Al-Shawa, director of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO), said all parties have reaffirmed their full support for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, expressing hope that it will begin operating immediately to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
Al-Shawa said Palestinian NGOs are prepared to mobilize all available resources to support shared national priorities and implement programs aimed at addressing the multiple crises facing Gaza’s population.
He stressed that the main challenge is not the formation of the committee itself, but Israel’s commitment to fulfilling the requirements of the next phase, particularly the full opening of border crossings and allowing the entry of humanitarian aid, construction materials, and essential supplies.
Al-Shawa added that economic and social recovery in Gaza depends on enabling the rehabilitation of basic infrastructure and the removal of widespread destruction, noting that more than two million Palestinians continue to live under extremely harsh humanitarian conditions.
He also emphasized that the success of large-scale reconstruction efforts hinges on the readiness of the international donor community to provide the necessary funding for Gaza’s recovery programs.
