The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said that hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip depend primarily on the agency’s services for their basic needs.
In statements issued on Wednesday, UNRWA stressed that its operations remain a lifeline for refugees in Gaza, where humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate.
The agency called for the establishment of a safe environment that would allow humanitarian teams to carry out their work effectively and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of life-saving assistance to all those in need.
UNRWA also said it continues to provide essential services despite major operational challenges across the enclave. These services include healthcare, education, emergency relief, and food assistance for vulnerable families.
The agency reiterated the importance of sustaining humanitarian access to Gaza to prevent further deterioration of living conditions for Palestinian refugees who rely heavily on international aid.
