University Hospitals Reassure Egyptians, Reveal Capabilities to Confront Coronavirus

In light of the rapid spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) emerging in the most countries of the world, university hospitals in Egypt have announced the state of emergency and maximum preparedness to confront this virus.

The deadly virus threatens the lives of millions across the planet. It becomes necessary for the state institutions to join hands to face this crisis. What are the capabilities of university hospitals to cope with the Coronavirus?

Those capacities are as the following:

*35825 beds in total.

*3959 Intensive care beds

*431beds in intensive care for children.

*3754 ventilators.

*838 nurseries.

The total manpower in university hospitals, to counter the Coronavirus?

*1524 specialists at anesthesia and intensive care.

*460 specialists at chest diseases specialty.

*401 specialists in endemic diseases.

*846 specialists at analyzes.

*768 specialists at diagnostic radiology specialties.

For a total of doctors: 3999 doctors.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held today a press conference at the Prime Minister’s headquarters, which was attended by Ministers of Health and Population and the State for Information, to review the measures taken by the government to address the crisis of the Coronavirus during the past period and until now, scenarios and alternatives which are proposed to deal with this crisis over the coming period.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the Crisis Committee concerned with dealing with the repercussions of the Coronavirus, met yesterday.

It discussed the issue of developing the coordination plan between hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health and university hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education.

The state can benefit from the existing health infrastructure in the best possible way, so that in each governorate there are a sufficient number of hospitals that provide services to citizens at the highest level in confronting this virus.

During the press conference, the Prime Minister revealed an initiative launched by the Minister of Health, through which 1,000 mobile vans will be allocated as mobile medical clinics that provide health services to workers in the workplace, production and construction sites, while taking immediate action in the event that any symptoms are discovered on inpiduals working in those the sites.

The Premier stressed that those efforts come within the framework to keep the health and safety of citizens, and to preserve Egypt in this intermediate stage of the spread of the virus, and not to reach other dangerous stages like other countries in the world.
