The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has called on Israeli forces to halt aggressive behavior toward peacekeepers, after the Israeli occupation army fired 15 rounds from light weapons at a distance of no more than 50 meters from peacekeepers conducting two patrols in Lebanon.

According to the UN News Center, UNIFIL stated that the gunfire originated from an Israeli military position south of the Blue Line in both instances.

Moreover, UNIFIL sent a "ceasefire" request through its designated communication channels, noting that neither incident resulted in injuries or damage.

UNIFIL further clarified that it had notified the Israeli army in advance of its activities in those areas, in accordance with standard procedures for patrols in sensitive zones near the Blue Line.

Furthermore, the mission emphasized that such incidents occur frequently and have become a "distressing trend," adding that attacks on or near peacekeepers constitute serious violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
