Andrea Tenenti, the spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), emphasized that no single country has the authority to independently determine the future of UNIFIL's mission in southern Lebanon.

In an exclusive statement to Alhurra, the American channel, Tenenti stated, “The mission continues its responsibilities as mandated by the United Nations Security Council and at the request of the Lebanese authorities. This makes the decision to stay a collective one, and no single country can make unilateral decisions regarding the mission.”

He added, "It is essential to maintain an international presence in southern Lebanon. Our presence is crucial, and we must fulfill the mandate entrusted to us, which has faced numerous challenges in recent weeks."

Tenenti also highlighted UNIFIL’s efforts in monitoring the situation on the ground despite their limited capabilities. He confirmed their commitment to ensuring coordination in delivering humanitarian aid to the people of southern Lebanon.
