UNICEF: Unspeakable Suffering for Countless Children with Amputated Limbs in Rafah Camps

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder reported that many children who have suffered single or double limb amputations are residing in tents in Rafah, enduring immense psychological stress.

Elder posed the question: "What can we say about these countless children who have lost their arms and legs? Or the thousands who have been orphaned? What language can describe the unprecedented destruction of homes and schools, and the unknown phase of children's trauma? The question we must certainly ask is: how many more mistakes will the world tolerate?"

According to the United Nations, nearly one million people have fled Rafah since the start of the intense Israeli military incursion in the southern Gaza Strip. Humanitarian agencies now fear further displacement following the deadly airstrike on an UNRWA site northwest of Rafah on Sunday, which has been widely condemned. Reports also indicate Israeli tank incursions in central Rafah.
