The UNICEF Representative in Sudan has described the attack on the Saudi Hospital in El Fasher and reports of executions in the city as “horrific,” warning that violence against civilians and health facilities is worsening the suffering of children and pushing the country closer to total collapse.
“The attack on civilians and medical facilities is appalling and further aggravates the hardships faced by children, driving the situation to the brink of breakdown,” the UNICEF official said, according to Alqahera News.
The statement comes amid growing international outrage over the escalation of violence in North Darfur, where fighting between Sudan’s warring factions — the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — has intensified in recent days.
UN agencies have repeatedly called for the protection of hospitals, medical workers, and civilians, stressing that deliberate attacks on such facilities constitute violations of international humanitarian law.
