UNICEF announced that 60,000 people, including 18,000 children, were displaced from southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours.
In a statement, the organization explained that seven children lost their lives and dozens were injured amid escalating Israeli operations in Lebanon. It emphasized that the high number of child casualties comes amid intensified airstrikes targeting several areas of the country, causing widespread displacement and exacerbating the already fragile humanitarian situation.
UNICEF stated that, given this rapid escalation, more than 12,000 families have sought refuge in over 300 shelters opened across Lebanon, many of which have reached their maximum capacity.
