UNFPA Representative in Egypt Frederika Meijer met with President of CAPMAS General Khayrat Barakat to advance new partnership agreements and discuss technical cooperation.
During the meeting, they talked about the population situation in Egypt and how further analyses of the EFHS can contribute to evidence-based interventions to bring the unmet need for Family Planning to zero.
According to UNFPA, a strategic partnership with CAPMAS will be crucial for the new UNFPA country program 2023-2027.
It's worth mentioning that UNFPA focuses on improving the lives of youths and women by advocating for human rights and gender equality and by promoting the understanding of population dynamics. Population dynamics, including growth rates, age structure, fertility, mortality and migration have an effect on every aspect of human, social and economic progress. And sexual and reproductive health and women’s empowerment all powerfully affect and are influenced by population trends.
