The UNESCO emphasized that learning foreign languages remains essential despite the rapid growth of digital translation tools, noting that human communication involves cultural understanding and emotional expression beyond simple words.
In its latest issue of the UNESCO Courier, the organization said real-time translation technologies cannot fully replace the deeper connections created through language learning, which helps build mutual understanding among societies and supports intercultural dialogue.
UNESCO stressed that language education continues to play a key role in promoting global cooperation, cultural exchange, and social cohesion in an increasingly interconnected world.
