Alessandro Fracassetti, the UNDP Egypt resident representative, commended the collaboration with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) for its increasing importance in creating jobs.

"From the heart of Aswan, we are rehabilitating the health clinic in Karkar village through our project with MSMEDA, improving health services and strengthening communities’ ability to thrive.

Our advocacy & awareness campaigns through local NGOs & women leaders are instrumental in helping achieve better health outcomes & overall wellbeing of host communities and Sudanese families."

Fracassetti made the remarks during a meeting with MSMEDA CEO Bassel Rahmy in Aswan, following his visit to several projects implemented by the agency.

In a statement, Fracassetti said, “We are in Aswan today to further strengthen Egypt's MSME sector and support local communities.”

He emphasized the significance of the partnership with MSMEDA, particularly in light of the growing need for job creation opportunities. Fracassetti highlighted joint projects in Aswan, underscoring their commitment to fostering resilience and sustainable growth within host communities.

These projects include the rehabilitation of the health clinic in Karkar Village, aimed at enhancing healthcare services for both Sudanese families and host communities.

Fracassetti stated, “By rehabilitating the health clinic in Karkar village and creating job opportunities, we are not only enhancing healthcare services for both local and Sudanese families but also strengthening the community’s capacity to thrive.”

Additionally, he visited the Women’s Productive Cooperative Society for Handicrafts and Heritage in Aswan, a project aimed at supporting and empowering craftswomen, promoting resilience, and improving livelihoods.

Fracassetti also highlighted awareness and advocacy campaigns implemented through local NGOs to educate and equip communities to improve their health outcomes and overall well-being.

He and Rahmy marked Earth Day by planting a tree, symbolizing their commitment to sustainability, environmental protection, and preserving the planet.
