The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and The Weather Channel, in collaboration with UNDP, Egypt's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), and the Meteorological Authority have launched "The Weather Kids campaign".

The campaign calls for urgent climate action for the next generations, according to a statement recently released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The statement read: "Global television audiences who tune in for their local weather reports today are in for a surprise–a special forecast from the year 2050. While the format is familiar, the forecasts–anchored by children–are not. These young TV meteorologists joined UNDP for its newly Weather Kids campaign, created in partnership with WMO and The Weather Channel, the flagship consumer brand of The Weather Company."

The campaign to raise awareness on the impacts of climate change and mobilize people around the world to take meaningful climate action is being supported by global celebrities and UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors. These celebrities include Oscar-winning Malaysian actor Michelle Yeoh, American actor Connie Britton, and Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The UNDP is undertaking this campaign as part of its efforts to safeguard future generations.
