The United Nations (UN) needs $4.3 billion during the current year to help millions of people in war-torn Yemen, while a donors' conference will be held in Geneva on Monday in an attempt to raise funds.
Humanitarian aid organizations need these funds to help 17.3 million people in Yemen, where the war has killed thousands since 2015 and plunged the country into one of the most serious humanitarian crises in the world.
In total, two-thirds of the country's population, more than 21 million people, will need some form of assistance this year.
The international organization states that the record amounts of this aid to face a multifaceted crisis require tremendous efforts from donor countries, and "without this sustainable support for the process of aiding Yemen, the lives of millions of Yemenis will be threatened and efforts to put a final end to the conflict will be more difficult."
