The United Nations has warned that Israel has entered a new phase of its military offensive on Gaza without providing any alternatives to protect civilians, according to Al-Qahera News.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said Israel’s actions were destroying any prospects for a two-state solution and urged countries to immediately halt arms exports to Israel.
“The escalation in Gaza poses catastrophic risks for civilians, and the absence of protective measures leaves the population in extreme peril,” the UN official said.
The remarks come amid intensified Israeli operations in Gaza, which humanitarian organizations say have already caused widespread destruction and deepened the humanitarian crisis.
The UN’s call adds to mounting international pressure on governments supplying weapons to Israel, as rights groups and aid agencies warn that continued arms transfers could contribute to further violations of international law.
