Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has announced the death of his six-year-old son, Lin, after a long battle with a serious illness.
Ulreich shared the heartbreaking news on his official Instagram account, explaining that while the decision to go public was difficult, it was necessary to prevent speculation and offer clarity to the public and media.
Lin was born in November 2018, during Ulreich’s time at Bayern Munich, where the goalkeeper arrived years ago from VfB Stuttgart. His passing, which occurred in June, has left the family and supporters in mourning.
In an emotional message, Ulreich wrote: “It is with great sadness that we announce our son Lin passed away a few weeks ago after a long and serious illness. Announcing this publicly now is an extremely difficult step for us, but an important one to clarify things within our environment and to the public. My wife, our daughter, and I are now trying to slowly return to life.”
Ulreich also extended his heartfelt gratitude to their families, friends, and FC Bayern Munich for their unwavering support during this tragic time. He kindly asked for privacy and requested that no further inquiries be made.
Bayern Munich continued to offer strong support to Ulreich and his family as they navigate this profound loss, with the family focusing on healing and regaining balance after this painful chapter.
