The Quintet, comprising the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the League of Arab States, the European Union, and the United Nations, expressed its deep concern over the continued escalation of the conflict in Sudan, calling for an immediate halt to any further military escalation, including the use of destructive weapons that have a catastrophic impact on civilians.

In a joint statement issued by Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, the Quintet emphasized its concern about the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Kordofan region and Blue Nile State. The statement cited drone strikes, the siege of population centers, attacks on hospitals, schools, and vital infrastructure, as well as forced displacement and restrictions on humanitarian access.

The statement stressed the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in accordance with international humanitarian law, ensure safe and rapid humanitarian access, and hold those responsible for serious violations accountable. The five also renewed their commitment to the sovereignty and unity of Sudan, and supported facilitating an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese political dialogue to end the war and establish a peaceful political transition process.
