The United Nations (UN) has urged Libyan factions and political parties to hold "inclusive and credible" presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

In a report obtained by Agence France-Presse (AFP), UN Secretary-General António Guterres underlined the need to continue implementing the ceasefire agreement, "including the complete withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and foreign forces."

It is worth mentioning that, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, discussed on Monday efforts to strengthen the democratic process in Libya.

During a phone call, Blinken reiterated the United States’ firm commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, the US Department of State said in a statement.

On the other hand, Egypt’s Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry received on Sunday his Algerian counterpart, Ramtane Lamamra, at the ministry headquarters in Cairo.

Moreover, their official talks touched on several regional issues of mutual concern, including the Libyan file.

In this regard, Shoukry stressed the importance of supporting a Libyan-Libyan solution to get out of the current crisis, underlining the need to stop any foreign interference in Libya’s domestic affairs.

In addition, FM reiterated the importance of the withdrawal of foreign forces, mercenaries from Libya, to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people for security, stability, and prosperity.
