The United Nations has accused Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing serious abuses, including killings, abductions and the forced recruitment of civilians — among them children — Alqahera News Channel reported on Thursday.
According to the UN assessment, the violations were documented in several areas affected by the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces. The organization warned that the actions attributed to the RSF pose “grave and escalating risks” to civilians already trapped in a worsening humanitarian emergency.
The UN reiterated that the recruitment of children into armed groups is a grave breach of international humanitarian and human rights law. It called on all parties to immediately cease such practices and to ensure safe, unimpeded access for humanitarian workers.
The latest accusations add to mounting international concern over the conduct of RSF fighters, as diplomatic efforts continue to push for a ceasefire and a return to political negotiations. Sudan’s conflict, now in its second year, has displaced millions and triggered widespread reports of atrocities.
